Decreased Federal Spending and Real Income Tax Reform!
Sam, like many in District 12 and across America, sees the complete disregard the federal government has towards the will of its people, and how they are spending our children’s future away. Sam knows that only real fiscal discipline and spending restraint will solve America’s financial issues. Sam also realizes that we need real income tax reform as the only way to ensure that the government doesn’t retard economic growth and prosperity in the future. That is why Sam pledges to sign on to H.R. 25, the FairTax, and H.R. 1040 which is legislation providing for a 17% flat tax. Sam's ultimate goal is to see the FairTax come into being, but both tax reform programs are beneficial for this country.
Sam knows that completely banning earmarks is the strongest way to keep unchecked government spending under control. Real earmark reform will keep Members of Congress from sneaking their pet projects into spending bills, and thus makes the Members accountable for the money they want to spend to the American people and their fellow members.
Create a Strong Economy that Lasts for Generations! Sam knows that one of the first things that you have to do is provide stabilization to the credit market, and to do that you need to increase available capital. Sam knows that one sure way to open the gates to capital is to permanently suspend the “mark to market’ accounting rules that require that banks and lending institutions list solid investments like real estate at their current value not projected value. As we all know, investments like real estate go up in down in value, but ultimately they end up on top. By holding the value of the property in a steady value it frees up credit for banks, and that means they are able to put more capital into the market which benefits everyone. Sam other solution to ensuring a long and fruitful economy for generations to come is to provide incentives for investment. Overbearing regulation and taxation prohibits many people from entering into the financial market, and we need to remove those barriers and provide incentives. Sam knows that the single greatest investment one can make is real estate, because as Sam says, “They ain’t makin’ anymore of it.” In order to encourage investment in real estate, Sam has talked with experts in the real estate field and has come up with what will be his first piece of legislation that he will submit should he win the election. It is the Home Ownership Made Economical (HOME) Act of 2011. It will provide the following: - A one time, $10,000 tax credit to any home buyer, no matter if it is their 1st, 2nd or 10th home. - $5,000 tax credit per home/property that is bought as an investment property or by a corporation. - $10,000 tax credit, for life, to any veteran of the United States Armed Forces, no matter how many homes/properties they buy. The Government that Governs Best, Governs Least!
During this time of economic turmoil it is tough to see any end. Yet, if we hold strong to the free market principles that America’s dynamic economy was built upon, and resist the move to radically change it, we can see America rise out of this current situation.
Like President Ronald Reagan and the Founding Fathers, Sam is an ardent supporter of limited government interference into American lives. Over the last 20 years the Congress has been resolved in their determination to consolidate greater power for the federal government, and that has to stop!!!
Sam is an firm supporter of all measures that restore and solidify the liberties the founding fathers secured in the Constitution, and bring state sovereignty back to the forefront of American domestic policy. Sam supports a repeal of the 17th Amendment, which took the State's voice away from the actions in Washington by removing the State Legislature from the selection of Senators. This single act would ensure that the individual State's voice would be heard, and citizens would begin to take a greater interest in State elections.
A Strong National Security!
Being a former United States Marine, Sam understands the necessity for a strong national defense. Sam was once quoted as saying, “Staring down our nation’s enemies gives one a unique perspective as to the dangers she faces.” Sam would have never supported the cancelation of the YF-22 program (which is partially built at Lockheed-Martin in District 12), or any Defense program during a time of war. Such actions are wrong, and they do not help to strengthen the single greatest military in the world’s history.
A Strong Nation Must Have a Secure Border!
Sam knows that real immigration reform begins with securing the border. Once the border is secure, then we can focus on enforcing the immigration laws and reforming the immigration process altogether. No nation in history has ever survived long if it could not secure it’s borders!

Sam’s service in the Marine Corps gave him a guiding principle for life...Semper Fidelis! “Always Faithful” is the Marine Corps’ creed and what Sam lives his life by. Sam knows in this country there are men and women seeking and holding office who claim to abide by the Conservative principles espoused by our founding fathers, and more recently President Ronald Reagan. Yet, unfortunately their actions prove otherwise. This type of deception does not describe Sam!
